Soot on the pots.... this problem is definitely don....
Just rub the outside of the pots thinn with detergent before use. The detergent forms a barrier layer betwen the soot and
the metal of the pots. After use of the pots you can simply wash away the soot with cold water. No need to rub like a
madman to get your holy Snow-Peak pots shiny.....
Magic-Pad, Magic-Sheet und Magic-Stick Firestarter
The perfect material to start the MF and other fires.
Cheap - Practical - Versatile - Environment-Friendly - No expiry date.
Melt used, old candles in a small pot. Dive wadding rondelles with a pair of tweezers in the melted wax. Pull them out
and let them drip off well.
Let them cool down on a baking paper.
Once finished, it looks like this:
Small and efficient. Burns 5 to 8 Minuts. Fold in the middle befor igniting.
Depending the circumstances, use only a part of the pads, because.... even for a blowzy prepared fire, usually 1/8 of a
pad is sufficient. In daily life this means: With 10 Pads (approx. 62 grams) 80 x starting a fire....
For wet or steamy wood, you can easily do “Ikebana” to exalt the pads power. Like this, for exemple:
Nice little fire..... or not? There are only 0,01 bis 0,09 grams of ash who remains.
Here a variant for perfectionists: Open the Pad before diving it in the meltet wax and insert a wick......
And here a recipe for the perfect ligt in many situations, in a emergency and or as mark on your way:
Warm up a pad for 15 minuts. In a emergency in the armpit. Then cut the pad with your sharpest blade in a strait helix.
Herer how it can look like. In this shape you can use it as a little light in the dark, you can, for exemple, hang it on a
(green...) sprig or put it on the floor, but do not cause a forest fire....
Finally the stripe should look as this:
Burns for approx. 30 minuts. More strait you cut it more long it will burn.
Voila something for spartanics, scotsman and ultra lightwighters: Cut household paper in srtipes of approx. 3 cm Then
dive them in melted wax an let them drip off very very good.
Welter them and fix the end on the roll (just heat a bit with the lighter).
Before use, you just breack the fixation and loosens the thing. Burns perfectly.....
You can also fold the stripe as shown below.....
and after you fold into triangular shape.
Use it as follows.
Just an other proposal: Dive cotton-whool tips in the melted wax and let them cool down. Burns well and reach deep in
the MF-NG.
To be continued...
Original Swiss Raclette with the MF-NG
3 tea-candles fits perfectly on the lower clamp. With this configuration a homely Raclette meal ist ensured, as it have
to be. If you want that the cheese melts faster, you can use more efficient heat sources. Here you can experiment
with all heat sources you have at hand. The Trangia burner, even throttled, is to powerful and is, in my opinion, not
suitable .
What fits perfect is charcoal, it burns long and can be used, on a heat resistant surface, even indoors. This
configuration ensures a rapid melting of the cheese and even very hungry people will be saturated in a short time.
But do not forget: Swiss Raclette is a traditionally unhurried meal, you should take your time and enjoy.....
In the plain nature, a Raclette meal is always a culinary experience of the first order.
